Jimmie Carl Turner, 75, of Sarcoxie, MO departed this life on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Carthage Health and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.
Jimmie entered this life on December 9, 1940 in Richey, MO to the union of the late Carl Eugene and Hattie M. (Presley) Turner. He was a graduate of Carthage High School and attended a local Junior College where he studied drafting. On October 2, 1959 he was united in marriage to Janice Laythrop at Union Christian Church in Carthage, MO. Jimmie was engaged as a full time farmer and rancher. He enjoyed his days on the family farm in which he maintained for more than fifty years. He often went by the nickname of “Hill stepper”. In often times when something seemed difficult he could always be heard saying “this ain’t no hill for a stepper”. Jimmie was a member of Richey Baptist Church, the Cattleman Association, NRA Association and various agricultural related events. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family and friends. When he had some free time he also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Turner; and a great granddaughter, Nora Grace Vaught.
Jimmie is survived by his wife, Janice of the home; his daughter Lorri Wycuff and husband Wendall of Ash Grove, MO and his son, David Turner and wife Tiffany of Sarcoxie, MO; four grandchildren, Carli Wycuff, Ashley Wiehe and husband Seth, Hailey Vaught and husband Chad and Cody Turner; three great grandchildren, Kyarah, Issiah and Ameliah; three brothers, Larry Turner and wife Marie, Gale Turner and wife Judy and Rick Turner, all of Sarcoxie, MO; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Jimmie are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016 in the chapel of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, MO with Pastor Ken Dodson officiating. Interment will be in VanBuren Cemetery near Wentworth, MO. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
