Robin (Sponsler) Hays, 59, Joplin, MO, succumbed after a lengthy battle with cancer on Thursday, July 14, 2016.
Robin was born to Dale and Mona (Kirkman) Sponsler on May 12, 1957 in Cabool, MO. She grew up in Marshfield, MO, graduating from Marshfield High School in 1975. She attended Missouri Southern State College, graduating in 1979 and making her home in Joplin. Robin married Mike Hays on June 22, 2004.
Over her years in Joplin, Robin held several retail management positions, most recently working at the Precious Moments Chapel gift shop.
Robin always put other people first and was known by family and friends for her loving, positive spirit. She was a doll enthusiast and collector, attending many conventions. She loved to shop and she loved to travel.
Robin was preceded in death by her father, Dale Sponsler.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Hays, Joplin; her mother, Mona Sponsler, Marshfield; sister, Raven Reed (Brad), Clinton, MO; a step-daughter, Andrea Hilgenberg (Justin), Webb City; step son, Jonathan Hays, Fayetteville, AR; nephews, Josh and Jay Reed, Clinton, MO; and step-grandsons, Henry and Atticus Hilgenberg, Webb City.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 in the Marshfield Cemetery under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time, Friday in the Marshfield Christian Church.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Fidelity Advisor 529 Plan, for the benefit of Henry and Atticus, Robin’s step-grandsons, c/o Fraker Funeral Home, PO Box 85, Marshfield, MO 65706.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
