Lois Surber

Lois Evelyn (Andrew) Surber, Webb City, MO, passed away at 5:45 p.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2016 after a short illness at Joplin Gardens in Joplin, MO. Born August 22, 1927, in Spring Hill, Ia., she attended Mt. Hope School and graduated with a class of five.

A child of the Great Depression and a farming family, she married her high school sweetheart, Dale E. Surber, in 1948, shortly after he returned from serving in the U.S. military in Korea, and they were married nearly 43 years before Dale passed away July 24, 1991 on Table Rock Lake.

They lived most of their lives in Indianola, Ia., but also on Table Rock Lake in Lakeview, Mo., Hialeah, Fla., and Kansas City, Mo., for shorter periods. After her husband’s death, Lois lived a short time in West Des Moines, Ia., and then moved to Webb City, Mo.

She was a loving housewife and mother of three, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was an award-winning Avon Sales representative for more than 30 years.
She was preceded in death by parents Catherine and Merrell Andrew, husband, son Roger, and brothers George, Richard, and Gerald.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Rod) Logan, Hamilton Square, NJ; Rodney (Rae) Surber, Webb City, MO; six grandchildren, Marni (Tom) Adam, Fairfield, IA; Scott White, Eldon, MO, Rodney (Molly) Logan, Burlington, NJ; Robert “Bud” Logan (Donna), Glen Burnie, MD; Austin (Cassie) Surber, Oronogo, MO; and Ashley (Rusty) Landon, Fairland, OK, 11 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at the Indianola, Ia., I.O.O.F. Cemetery on July 16, 2016.
