Shirlene DeSpain

Shirlene Francis (Marney) DeSpain, age 81, of Wheaton, Missouri went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, July 12, 2016.

She was born May 8, 1935 in Rocky Comfort, Missouri the daughter of Champ and Kate McNeill Marney. In 1954 she married Jim DeSpain and to this union seven children were born.

Surviving are five daughters, Marti DeSpain and partner Lori of Scottsdale, Arizona, Nema McCullah of Wheaton, Missouri, Renee Christman and her husband Rick of Stella, Missouri, Christi Rippen and her husband Jeff of Decatur, Alabama and Trish Stephens and her husband Lance of Rocky Comfort, Missouri; one son Jim DeSpain Jr and his wife Katrina of Hawthorne, California; one brother John Marney and his wife Jean of Exeter, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Joel Haynes, Tiffany Hale, Lindsay Johnson, Reece Steele, Jim DeSpain III, Brandon Tichenor, Nash Rippen, Vanessa Banks, Logan Moore and Toby Moore; eleven great grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Pam DeSpain Channel; a granddaughter, Cassadi Rippen; two brothers, Dale and J.R. Marney and one sister Betty Haufler.

Shirlene grew up and received her education at Rocky Comfort, where she graduated from high school. She resided in Kansas City several years and was employed as a secretary for an insurance company there for nine years. In 1969 she moved to Rocky Comfort and was employed at Con-Agra in Neosho, Missouri. She was a member of Bethlehem Church, Rocky Comfort, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 16, 2016, in Bethlehem Church under direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Nolan McNeill, Jr, Brother Hap Anders and Brother Scott Mitchell will conduct the services. Burial will be in Rocky Comfort Cemetery at Rocky Comfort, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton.
