Billy 'Bill" J. White, age 88, lifelong resident of Joplin, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 at his home following an extended illness.
Bill was born July 12, 1927 in Joplin to the late, Joe White and Anna Reeves White. He worked as a carpenter for both Southwestern Sash and Door and American Fixtures, both in Joplin. Bill served his country in the United States Navy.
On August 28, 1946, Bill married Betty Jane Stowe in Columbus, Kansas. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2014. Additionally, a son, Jack H. White and a brother, Jack White preceded Bill in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Matters and husband, John of Joplin; sons, Gary White and wife, Debra of Lee Summit, Missouri, Dan White and wife, Gayle of Webb City and Dave White of Joplin; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A private committal of ashes will take place at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
