Helen F. Chester, age 89, of Joplin, died peacefully on July 11, 2016. She was born on February 21, 1927 in Granby, MO, the daughter of Floyd and Esther Prier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles O. Chester, in 1983. Together they operated the clinic in Granby. She was the nurse and x-ray technician. She loved her family, enjoyed gardening, quilting, painting, and was an avid Royals baseball fan.
Helen was also preceded in death by her parents, son Michael Faul, five brothers: Norman, Dennis, Nelson, Gary and Larry Prier; and granddaughter Christina Faul. Survivors include daughter Karen Long, sister Sandra Dean-Brock and husband Aubrey, grandchildren: Randy Friend and wife Shauna, Josh Friend and wife Misty, Zach Friend and wife Kailey, Mike Faul and wife Erica, Jason Faul and wife Heather, James Faul, Charles Faul, Nathan Faul, Pamela Conley, Chip Burnett, Leigh-Ann McGhee and husband Shoji, Brent Long, and 21 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, July 15, 2016 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Joplin, MO. Burial will follow in the Osborne Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6–7 pm Thursday at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.
