(From Parker Mortuary)Charles “Charlie” Jacob Carver, age 85, of Joplin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at the Solace House in Joplin.
Charles, son of the late Charles Leslie and Geraldine (Tennent) Carver, was born on February 4, 1937, in Joplin. He grew up and attended school in Joplin and soon after graduating high school, he attended Automotive Technology School and was a graduate of Pittsburg State University.
Charles then enlisted in the National Guard where he served honorably. He lived and worked for five years in the Middle East oil fields as a mechanic and service representative for IHC. Charles then worked for many years in diesel trucking management in Colorado and was currently employed with Vance Ford in Miami.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Harris on December 28, 1957, in Joplin. She preceded him in death on February 14, 1994.
Survivors include his children, sons, Mike Carver, and his wife, Carmel, of Stillwater, MN, and Ricky Carver, and his wife, Martha, of Parker, CO; daughters, Jenny Lou Betz, and her husband, Steve, of Avada, CO, and Margie Carver, of Canon City, CO; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Baptist Church with burial to follow at Newtonia Cemetery in Newtonia. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, February 9th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Solace House in memory of Charles, and may be entrusted to the mortuary.
