(From Kirby-Morris Funeral Home)Earl “Dub” Rakestraw’s life began on October 14, 1942 in Sterling, KS; the son of Calvin and Lillian (Miller) Rakestraw. Dub had a passion for education and healing the mind. He earned his Masters Degree in Psychology from Pittsburg State University.
Dub worked tirelessly to build children’s mental health clinics and service centers. He retired as an executive director tending to the needs of Family Service and Guidance.
Dub was an avid bowler and coached bowling for Circle High School for several seasons. He loved animals deeply. He had a strong spirit and stayed strong for his family.
Dub’s family includes his wife, Anita of El Dorado; Shon Rakestraw, friend of Bill W. of El Dorado; Chris (Janna) Rakestraw of Mulberry, KS; grandchildren Krystina Rakestraw-Soares of Topeka, Shon Rakestraw II of Topeka and Danielle Mulkey of Lamar, MO; great grandchildren Quinn and Emmy; sisters, Linda Riner and Polly Brotzman.
Dub passed away on January 24, 2023 in El Dorado. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Curt Rakestraw and Verlee Adam.
Cremation has taken place and the Dub Rakestraw Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 18 at 12pm at the El Dorado Civic Center in the Breakout Room. Please sign his online guestbook and leave a memory of Dub at www.carlsonkirbymorris.com
