Jack Lady

Leo Lloyd “Jack” Lady was born April 24, 1932, in Nevada, MO, to Lloyd and Flossie (Hubbard) Lady. When Leo was one, his parent divorced, and his uncle Charley, aunt Neva, and cousin Velda Hubbard took him to raise. Charley and Neva soon became “dad” and “mom,” and Velda became his “big sister,” and they nicknamed him “Jack.”

Jack went to country school at Cline Hill until they moved to El Dorado Springs when he was in 6th grade. In 1949, they moved to Galveston, TX, where he enjoyed the beach and all kinds of fishing. He went back to Galveston, TX, many times. He graduated from Ball High in Galveston in May of 1951. Then in June 1951, the family moved back to El Dorado Springs, MO, and he went to work at the International Shoe Factory.








In 1953 he joined the U.S. Navy, where he took aviation school in Norman, OK, and 18 months in Washington, DC. He was honorably discharged in October 1955 and returned to work at the shoe factory, where he met his sweetheart, Mary Julian.

Jack and Mary were married on December 23, 1956. They lived on a farm south of El Dorado Springs, where they raised beef cattle. They had two children, a son, Dan Lee, and a daughter, Debra Luann.

In 1959, Leo went to work for Witt Printing, where he ran a press, and retired from there on April 24, 1997. He also worked for Cedar County Farmers Mutual Insurance Company.

Jack and Mary enjoyed camping and traveling. They traveled the states, including Hawaii, Alaska, The Virgin Islands, Nova Scotia, Mexico, and Canada, and enjoyed many cruises and bus tours.








Jack was a charter member of Park Street Christian Church, attended many years at Herriman Chapel, and was a member of the Clintonville Lodge 482. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Flossie, his uncle Charley, aunt Neva, and “big sister” Velda.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; his daughter Debra (Gary) Jones El Dorado Springs, MO; his son Dan Lady of Webb City, MO; four grandchildren, Chris (Nicole) Lady of Burleson, TX, Kyra (Zach) Snyder of El Dorado Springs, MO, Chase (Felecia) Jones of El Dorado Springs, and Cassie Lady of Chambersburg, PA; and four great grandchildren, Trey and Tayte Lady, Jase Newman and Thea Jones.
