(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Ronald Wane Buchanan, age 74, of Checotah, Oklahoma passed away February 2, 2023, following a sudden illness.
Ron most commonly known as “Buck” was born February 3, 1948, in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Gussie and Irene (Burger) Buchanan.
Buck served in the Navy where he served two tours in Vietnam and achieved the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. After his service in the Navy, Buck served as a firefighter in California. Buck then moved to Oklahoma where he fell in love with truck driving and remained a proud truck driver until his retirement in 2022.
Buck enjoyed his time with family, most importantly spending time with his children and grandchildren. Family get-togethers, watching the OSU Cowboys, OU Sooners and the New Orleans Saints play football, camping, fishing and traveling to name a few were a must. Buck also enjoyed his time at the casinos and often shared his winnings with family and friends.
Buck is survived by; five sons, Shane Martin, Ron Buchanan, Jeff Buchanan, Gus Buchanan, Scott Buchanan and his one daughter, Tracy Nichols. His one brother, Jerry Aldin, 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brothers, Harold Buchanan and two sisters, Helen and Shirley.
