Roy Roberts

(From Derfelt Funeral Home)

Roy Alan Roberts, age 63 of Baxter Springs, passed away at his home at 9:30 AM on Friday, February 3, 2023.

Roy was born in Mason City, IA on October 15, 1959 to the union of Bob Roberts and Helen (Cole) Roberts. He graduated from Blue Valley High School, and later attended Ozark Christian College where he received his Bachelors Degree.

Shortly thereafter, he began working for Empire District Electric Company as a Janitor in Joplin. During his employment, he held the positions of Riverton Plant Operator and State Line Senior Operator Technician, the position he held at his retirement in 2017 following 37 years of service.

Those close to him described him as one of the most generous, kind-hearted men they've known. He would give you the shirt off his back, and all you had to do was ask. You could often find him golfing, traveling, or playing pool. He had an affinity for collecting classic muscle cars, and was most fond of his Corvette. He lived a life that proved his priorities were very clearly God and Family. The love he had for his family was immense. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church of Baxter Springs.

He is survived by two daughters, Jamie Wilkins (husband, Dave), and Jennifer Martin all of Baxter Springs; four grandchildren, Amanda, Josh, Moriah, Camara; two great-grandchildren, Ariel and Aurora; his parents, Bob and Helen Roberts; two brothers, Dale Roberts (wife, Amy) of Minerva, OH; and Mark Roberts (wife, Kay) of Lee's Summit, MO; niece and nephew, Jordan and Hannah.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Earl and Anna Roberts, and William and Josephine Cole.

Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 pm on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Crossroads Christian Church of Baxter Springs, KS, followed by the funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm. Pastor Cameron Woodring will officiate. Burial will follow at Baxter Springs Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Christian Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
