Clarence Fletcher

(From Lawson's Funeral Home)

Clarence Carl Fletcher, “Fletch,” 79-year-old resident of Jay, OK, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 25, 2023. He was surrounded by his 2 grandsons, Jakob Jones, and JJ Pryor, 2 daughters, Melissa Bussell and Brandice Lambertson, and former wife Tootie Hyer.

He fought a very quick and progressive form of dementia. The last 6 weeks (about 1 and a half months) of his life were a roller coaster that like everything else in his life was stubborn and gave it his all.

Born on December 4, 1943, to Clifton and Delores Fern Fletcher in Sapulpa, OK. While living and growing up in Sapulpa, he worked for Liberty Glass and Paragon Pipe before moving to Jay in 1978.

He loved hunting, fishing, and camping in his spare time. He also loved restoring cars, for kids and grandkids, but he was able to teach mechanics, auto body, and construction to all his kids and grandkids. His joy came from teaching them to take care of things themselves. After moving to Jay, he was self-employed for many years, time with his own auto mechanics and body shop and farmer before starting work at Simmons in Southwest City, holding several jobs, before retiring as a truck driver. Pops was a man of very few words, but he also did not need them.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Fern Fletcher; Brother, Billy Lee Fletcher; Sister, Mary Janene Fletcher; son, James Pryor, Jr. and lifetime friend Junior Enlow.

Clarence is survived by his 2 sons, Tony Fletcher, and wife Shanna of Sapulpa, OK, and Tommy Fletcher of Sapulpa, OK; 3 daughters, Sheila Pryor of Gilbert, LA, Melissa Bussell of Idabel, OK and Brandice Lambertson of Jay, OK; He also had two grandsons he has a special relationship with, the sun rose and set on, that he helped raise, JJ Pryor of Jay, OK and Austin Bussell of Idabel, OK; His sister, Kathy Houston and husband John of Fort Worth, TX; 12 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren; numerous family and friends.

Clarence’s family will have a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at a date.

Arrangements are entrusted to Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray St. Jay, OK 74346 with Shaunda J. Lawson, 3rd Generation Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.
