Dr. Ronald Dean Swift, 79, Neosho entered into rest April 8, 2018. He was born Oct. 5, 1939 in Kahoka, MO to Russell and Virginia (McWilliams) Swift, and was a longtime Neosho area resident.
A 1957 graduate of Neosho High School, he went on to attend Drury College, then graduated the University of Houston in 1962, where he also received his Certificate of Optometry in 1963. Ronald was an optometrist and was recognized by the Neosho Lions Club for his work in eye care for children. He was a member of the Neosho United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the church choir, the hand bell choir, and assisted with Wed. night youth group. Ronald enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, cards, BINGO, and being with his family.
He married Deanna Haddock; she survives of the home. Also surviving are five children: Kathleen Orris and husband, Sands, GA, Melissa Brown and husband, Jeff, AR, David Swift, St. Louis, MO, David Milligan and wife, Patty, TX, and Brenda Bolton and husband, Kevin, NC; the mother of his children, Joan Spurlock, Joplin, MO; one brother, Larry Swift and wife, Kathleen, Joplin, MO; seven grandchildren: William Sands, Foster Sands, Jake Herrel, Riley Milligan, Erin Milligan, Bailey Bolton, and Ashley Bolton; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 Friday, April 13, 2018 at Neosho United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mitch Jarvis officiating. Interment will follow at Neosho IOOF Cemetery.
