Rubie Ochs

Rubie L. Ochs, 91, Nevada, MO passed away in Friday, March 30, 2018 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Rubie, the youngest daughter of Lewis Henry and Ina Ellen (Kennedy) Rynard, was born February 16, 1927 in Horton, MO. She married Leland Ochs, January 1, 1949 and they celebrated 54 years together before his passing in October 23, 2003.

Rubie was raised in Horton and attended Whitfield grade school and then graduated from Metz High School Class of 1945. She was one of the 4th generation of the Allan Summers Family, the first permanent white settlers of Vernon County. Rubie worked for a time for Dr. Jack Woodfill, Optometrist, Edmiston Department Store, and then for over 20 years as a secretary at Farm and Home Savings and Loan in Nevada until her retirement. She attended Community Christian Church in Nevada and was a lifelong member of Rinehart Christian Church in Richards.

She is survived by four nephews, Stanley Rynard and his wife Doris, Nevada, Randy Handley, Nevada, Michael Ochs, Vancover, WA, and Richard Ochs, Bothell, WA; seven nieces, Brenda Westerhold and her husband Mike, Nevada, Elouise Staley and her husband Ralph, Blue Springs, MO, Nancy Kelker and her husband John, Harlingen, TX, Debbie Selby and her husband, Larry, Moundville, MO, Marilee Claypool and her husband Gary, Nevada, Tammy Bond and her husband Ed, Nevada, and Patty Gauthier and her husband Don, KS; one nephew-in-law, Jerry Allison, Oak Grove, MO; one brother-in-law, Glen Ray Ochs and his wife Bonnie, Joplin, MO; many great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leland Ochs; one brother, Orville Rynard; one sister Goldie O’Rear; one niece, Ina May (Rynard) Allison; great nephews, Steven L. Rynard, and Michael Allison.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Roger Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.



In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Moore-Few Care Center c/o NRMC Foundation.
