(From Ozark Funeral Home)Harley Mack Smith, 94 of Southwest City, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at his residence in Southwest City, Missouri.
He was born June 13, 1928 near Clarksville, Arkansas. The family eventually moved to the Neosho, Missouri area where Harley grew up and lived the first 40 years of his life.
While in the Neosho area, Harley worked for the Pet Milk Company in Neosho, managed his farm and developed a custom butchering business for the farming communities around Neosho and Seneca, Missouri, all the while finding plenty of time to hunt quail and raccoon. Harley purchased the Southwest City Locker Plant in November 1968 and very successfully ran that business for several years.
After he sold the locker plant business he worked for Roper Gas Company, Southwest City, developing a highly successful propane route and retiring after 17 years. After retirement from Roper Gas, Harley ran his farm and cattle business and spent considerable time quail and pheasant hunting and raising bird dogs.
He sold his farm in 2007 and moved into Southwest City where he continued with quail and pheasant hunting, and added fishing Grand Lake to his activities. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and visiting his many friends around the Southwest City and Grove, Oklahoma areas and those he made while pheasant hunting in Kansas.
Harley was preceded in death by his parents Lawson Benton and Nora M (Cisco) Smith; seven brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his three sons; son Everett Smith and wife, Jody of Southwest City, Missouri, and their children; Everett Smith, Jr. and wife Cheri of Baltimore, MD., Christopher Smith and wife Jennifer of Moore Oklahoma, and Stephen Smith of Nashville, Tennessee; son Larry Smith and wife Rebecca of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and their children; Stephanie Barnes and husband Chris of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Daniel Smith and wife Lauren of Arvada, Colorado, and Aaron Smith and wife Sarah of Fairbanks, Alaska; son Mark Smith and wife, Debbie of Rogers, Arkansas and their son Kyle Thurman and wife Arin of Centerton, Arkansas. In addition, Harley is survived by 17 great-grandchildren, one sister Lois Brown of Independence, Missouri, nephew Paul Brown and wife Linda of Ash Grove, Missouri, and a host of additional nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
