(From Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services)Donald (Don/Donny) Ray Walcher, 60, of Republic, MO passed away due to a short illness on Saturday, December 2, 2023. He was born July 14, 1963, to Joe and Sharon (Kay) Walcher in Neosho, MO.
Donny grew up on a family farm in Rocky Comfort, Missouri. He was a graduate of McDonald County High School. He became a first-generation student at Crowder College where he attended on a baseball scholarship for his associates and transferred to Missouri Southern for his bachelor's degree.
After graduation, Don joined the United States Army served one term, and earned his Master's. Don married his college sweetheart Stephanie on Christmas morning 1985 in Miami, Oklahoma. He worked for Roadway Trucking before being recruited to Prime Trucking where he worked for the last 30 years.
In his free time, Don enjoyed cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, running a hobby farm, racing motocross with his son and grandson, watching and coaching his children and grandchildren play sports, and playing with his beloved dog Teddy.
Donny is survived by his wife of 38 years, Stephanie Walcher; parents, Joe and Sharon Walcher; children, Stephen, Joey, and Lacee Walcher; grandchildren Alexis, Benjamin, and Mackenzie Walcher; and many nieces and nephews. Many others considered Donny a brother, friend, and mentor. To know him was to know a good joke and a laugh.
A celebration of life will be held from 11-2 on Sunday, December 10th at the Oasis Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield, MO.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Don's surviving family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
