Fern Wescott

(From Ulmer Funeral Home)

Fern Odell Wescott, 84, of Carl Junction, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at her home.

Fern was born on December 17, 1938, in Carthage, Missouri, to Elmer L. Dubry and Lucile (Coady) Trenary (both preceding her in death). She worked at Schreiber Foods for many years.

She was a talented artist and helped her son Reggie and Granddaughter Meggie build and create Wolfman’s House of Screams. One of her favorite pastimes was to go square dancing with her family.

Fern lived her entire life loving and caring for others. She was a “Mom” and “Grandma” to many people. She always had an open door and welcome arms and never met a stranger. Her grandchildren were her life. She also had a lot of love for animals, especially the many dogs she rescued and took care of throughout her lifetime.

Fern was united in marriage to the love of her life Marvin Wescott in September of 1977 in Carthage, Missouri; he preceded her in death (May 28, 2022).

Fern is survived by her daughter Cathy Hayes (Chet) of Kimberling City, Missouri; brother, O.T. Brewer (Sharon) of Springfield; grandchildren Kristen Martin (Scott) of Kansas City, MO, Jason Benward (Darcy) of Wentzville, MO, Meggie Etris (Josh) of Webb City, MO, and 8 great-grandchildren, Sam Martin, Ben Martin, Zac Martin, Nova Etris, Charley Benward, Maverick Etris, Harrison Benward, Cooper Benward; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son, Reggie L. Pippin Jr., sister Luella Wescott, two brothers Larry Wayne Brewer, and Glenn Dubry.

A graveside service will be held for Fern at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Weaver
Cemetery in Oronogo, Missouri.
