Sam Taylor

Sam Glenn Taylor, age 78 of Mindenmines, MO passed away at 10:35 PM on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at his home in Mindenmines, MO.

Sam was born in Beebe, AR on February 05, 1945 to the union of Elmo Bradley Taylor and Dora Lee (McKinney) Taylor. He enlisted in the US Navy where he served from 1962 to 1974. 

During his time in the service, he earned several commendations and medals, including a Merit of Service (Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon) and a Navy Good Conduct Medal. 








He enjoyed being outdoors. Sam loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and playing golf. He was an avid collector of coins, and enjoyed music, especially digitizing his large collection of vinyl records. While Sam enjoyed all genres of music, his favorite was country western.

He worked in an asset recovery team as a Vietnam Aviation Mechanic while in the Navy. After returning home, he worked for Farm Bureau, and The Order of Foresters (IDF). He and his wife, Beverly owned and operated Taylor's Insurance, where he worked for over 30 years.

Sam was united in marriage to Beverly (Piercy) Taylor on April 08, 1972 in Winterhaven, CA. She survives.

Additional survivors include his children, Randall Goetschius (wife, Marilyn) of Platte City, MO, Lynn Pielow (husband, Robert Pizante) of La Selva Beach, CA, David Goetschius (wife, Teresa) of Staunton, IN, and Samuel "Travis" Taylor (wife, Kim) of Jacksonville, AR; two brothers, Joe Taylor (wife, Patty), Robert Taylor (wife, the late Patsy Taylor); one sister Evelyn Coffer (husband, Jim); as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.








He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo Bradley Taylor and Dora Lee (McKinney) Taylor; and one grandson, Jacob.

Mr. Taylor has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena, KS for cremation. A celebration of life will be held on December 17th, 2023 at 1:00pm, at the New Hope Methodist Church in Carl Junction, MO. Minister Randy Steele will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Methodist Church, or the Nashville Methodist Church in Oronogo, MO in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
