Howard Cheek

Howard L. Cheek, Jr., age 81, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Grove, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Joplin on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Howard was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 18, 1942 to Howard and Francis (Smith) Cheek, Sr. He attended school in North Kansas City, Missouri.

Howard was proud to be a member of the Masons organization in Kansas City. He moved to the Grand Lake area in 1982.







Howard was in the automotive business and built semi-trucks for 18 years. He most recently managed a body shop and processed the insurance claims. Restoring and showing cars was his passion. He was especially fond of classic Fords and his pristine 1955 Crown Victoria was one of his absolute favorites. He was an enthusiastic member of Endless Memories Car Club and was well known in the car show circle as a contender. He won many trophies over the years and was always a fan favorite. He will be greatly missed.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret Cheek, son Brian Cheek and brother Ron Cheek. Left to cherish his memory, his son Craig Cheek and wife Susan of Neosho, Missouri; 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Services for Howard are pending at this time and will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Nichols-Stephens Funeral and Cremation Services, Grove, Oklahoma.
