(From Parker Mortuary)Larry Roger Nixon, age 75, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 after a sudden illness.
Larry was born January 11, 1948 in Joplin, son of the late Keyton H. Nixon and Sally F. (Weygandt) Nixon. He grew up in Mexico, MO and graduated from High School there. He then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO.
He lived in Joliet, IL after college for several years, and was a longtime manager of a local Pizza Hut before moving to Joplin. He loved to read and was passionate about his garden. He was also a history buff and loved to read and talk about the history of the United States.
He was also proud of his service to his country with the United States Army where he served in Vietnam. He was a friend to all and will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a brother, Keyton Nixon, Jr.

Survivors include his brother, Brent Nixon (Terri); nephews, Joshua Kane, Micah Adams, Jace Clay, and Brody Molina all of Orange, MA; cousins, David Nethery and Annette Nethery both of Joplin, and Jimmy Nixon.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
