Rose Guernsey

Rose Marie Guernsey, age 83, of Carl Junction, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2023, at Westgate of Wildwood Ranch in Joplin. Born to the late Art and Janetta (Richard) Budd, on December 20, 1939, in Rapid City, South Dakota, Rose's life was a testament to love, faith, and service to others.

Rose completed her high school education in Wyoming before advancing to earn her nursing degree in Mesa, Arizona in 1970. 







On December 7, 1958, she united in marriage to Robert Guernsey, in Wheatland, Wyoming. Together, they built a life filled with joy, shared values, and an unwavering commitment to their family. She served as the Director of Nursing in both Arizona and Nebraska and worked as an LPN in Arizona, Nebraska, and Missouri. 

In 1978, she moved to Joplin to make her home, where she continued nursing at both Freeman West Hospital and St. John’s Hospital. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her utmost joy. Rose's spiritual strength was matched by her physical resilience, a combination that inspired all who knew her.








Survivors include her children, Lonni Briles, and her husband, Art, of Pritchett, CO, Tom Guernsey, and his wife, Chris, of Neosho, and Tim Guernsey, of Carl Junction; one brother, Alvin Budd, and his wife, Janetta, of Ozark; a brother-in-law, Danny Guernsey, and his wife, Clo, of Canon City, Co; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by her brothers, Earl Budd, and Charles Budd.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin with burial to follow at Carl Junction Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, December 14th beginning at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Parker Mortuary.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
