(From Clark Funeral Home)Steven Edward Watterson, age 66, passed away on December 9, 2023, leaving behind a trail of cherished memories and a legacy of kindness. He was born to Pete and Kay (Waldmeier) Watterson on March 5, 1957, in Tucson, AZ.
His professional journey flourished as a system engineer for a global software company, where his dedication and skills paved the way until his retirement in 2022. His heart found solace in the embrace of faith as a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. Steven was an avid gardener, finding immense joy in cultivating fresh produce and generously sharing the bounty with his community.
His love for farming extended to caring for his cherished animals, especially his goats and chickens. As a member of the German Shepherd Dog Club of Southern Arizona, he passionately trained German shepherds, displaying his commitment to these incredible companions.
In October of 1997, Steven found love and companionship with Kevilee Schaich, and later they were united in marriage on June 4, 2005. Kevilee survives him, carrying forward the memories they created.
Steven is survived by his daughter, Summer Watterson, and her husband, Jarry Tarkington of Rocky Comfort, as well as his stepchildren, Nathan Dover and wife Stephanie of Clarksville, TN, and Melissa Moore and husband Ross of Bethel Springs, TN.
He also leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Lee Ann Watterson of Tucson, AZ, and his mother, Kay Watterson. He also leaves behind two beloved k-9 companions Colt and Traveler, who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father and his grandmother Jeweldean Coffee.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Steven's life will be held later, allowing friends and family to gather, reminisce, and pay tribute to a life well-lived.
