Linda Louise Danner, age 68 of Joplin, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to the late Claude Warden and Juanita Pointer Warden on April 4, 1948.
Linda attended Saginaw Grammar School, a 2 room school house, and graduated from Joplin High School in the top 2 percent of her class, before attending Missouri Southern State University and graduating with the 1st RN Nursing class in 1968. She later attended Stephens College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985.
Linda had a long career with St Johns Regional Medical Center as a Registered Nurse that spanned from 1963 to 2003. While there, her roles ranged from Staff Nurse to Assistant Director of Nursing. While active in Cancer Nursing, she helped start the “I Can Cope” Cancer Survivor Group. From 1991 to 2001, she owned and operated TJ Mots Restaurant and Catering, with her husband and received the Restauranteur of the Year Award in 1995.
Linda was active in church throughout her life. While a member at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, she was instrumental in starting the Parish Nurse Program and in 2010 began playing dulcimer with the Shepherd Strings.
Linda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Tom, her children, Heather, Jeff and Cody, her niece who was considered a daughter, Angie, her sister, Sue Baker, her brother, Don Warden, grandchildren, Jonathon, Joshua, Nathan, Reagan, Hailey, Tyler, Hannah and Lucy and her dog Squatchie.
Visitation will be at 1:30p.m. and Funeral Services at 2:30p.m. on Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Carthage, Missouri. Reverends Roger Mackie and James Schnackenberg officiate. Burial will be at Saginaw Cemetery.
Flowers may be sent to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Joplin Humane Society, in care of the mortuary.
