(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)
David Lee Clyde, MA. LPC. TTS. CRAADC II. MARS., age 52, Joplin, Missouri; a one of a kind husband, attentive father, uncle, and grandfather passed away on Saturday, March 31st, 2018. He was born September 13th, 1965 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Robert Clyde and the late Sharon (Blomberg) Clyde. He earned his Masters of Arts in Counseling with Cum Laude honors. David passed due to complications that arose following his valve replacement surgery.
He met his wife, Michelle Ann (Robson) Clyde, at Evangel College in August of 1984. They quickly became best friends and a year and a half later were married. The first 25 years of their marriage was focused on raising their five sons and completing their education. David loved to learn. Even when he completed his formal education his hunger and love for learning never ceased. He was always reading to grow and stretch his knowledge base and looking for ways to improve himself and help those around him. The past seven years they have focused on their relationship and enjoying the empty nest; which included frequent date nights, cruises (they loved to snorkel), and going for walks and lots of laughing amongst many other activities. They both shared a heart for the Lord and a devotion to seeking His presence. This was a common thread that was interwoven into who they were and what they did.
David worked in the restaurant business as the general manager to support his family. His passion came into fruition when his children grew up. He later earned his Bachelors in Church Ministries and his Masters in Counseling. David’s heart and passion was to help those that were hurting. That path led him to take a position as a counselor at Ozark Center; one that he held until his untimely death. David’s desire was to help and care for those that were in need in a field that is often underestimated for its importance.
David is survived by his wife, Michelle (Robson) Clyde, Joplin, MO; five sons, Matthew Clyde, Michael Clyde, Brandon Clyde, Jason Clyde and Joshua Clyde; three brothers, Robert Clyde, Douglas Wilderman and Tony Clyde; two sisters, Kristen Smith and Heather Carlton; his father and stepmother, Robert and Teressa Clyde; nieces and nephews; as well as 12 grandchildren with two more expected by the end of this year.
David will be missed by many and although his works are incomplete on this Earth he now resides where he has always belonged: In the presence of the Lord.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Joplin Family Worship Center with Pastor Daniel Wermuth officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the church. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Matthew Clyde, Michael Clyde, Brandon Clyde, Jason Clyde and Joshua Clyde. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
