John K. Tyler, age 82, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Communities of Wildwood Ranch. John was born April 20, 1935 in Joplin, Mo. and had lived in Joplin most of his life. He was employed as an accountant and bookkeeper for several local businesses. Following his retirement, he was a substitute teacher for the Joplin School District. John was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and sang in the choir. He also sang with the Joplin Choral Society.
John was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn in 2009, four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include three sons, Curtis Tyler and wife Vilma, Ammon Jordan, Dr. Bob Tyler and wife Lea Ann, Joplin, and Kevin Tyler and wife Lena, Riverside, Ca., one sister, Mary Hoagland, Webb City, Mo. and four grandchildren, Troy, Tori, Shea, and Seth.
John’s wishes were to be cremated. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Rex Wakefield, officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the Church. Memorial contributions are requested to Fellowship Baptist Church in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory of Joplin, Mo.
