(From Knell Mortuary)Ella Mae “Ellie” Hansen, 88, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022, at St Luke’s Nursing Center.
Ellie was born on November 16, 1934, in Carrolton, Missouri, the daughter of the late William and Ida (Hockemeier) Steffens. She graduated from Norborne, High School, and then received her BBA from Chillicothe Business College.
She married Jon Hansen on December 31, 1972, he preceded her in death on March 23, 2012.
Ellie was employed with American Humanics Foundation and later with Garnett Grain until her retirement. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at 42nd and Tracy in Kansas City, Missouri, and more recently Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Carthage, Missouri.
Ellie was very dedicated and active in her churches, helping with bible school and teaching Sunday school, chaired many committees, and was involved with outreach, an inner-city mission in Kansas City.
Survivors include her brother, Herb Steffens (Marilyn), Kansas City, Missouri; stepson, Craig Hansen (Kendra), Carthage, Missouri; two granddaughters, Amanda Cooperrider, and Amber Porter; seven great grandchildren, Caroline, Donovan, Kenneth, Caden, Ryland, Kyler, and Josiah; as well as many nieces and nephews
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Earnest Steffens.
Services are pending and will be announced by the Knell Mortuary.
