(From Ozark Funeral Home)(Ret.) Chief Deputy Stephen Owen Quigg, 68, of Gardner, Kansas, departed this life suddenly on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
Steve entered this life on October 28, 1953, in Owensboro, Kentucky, the middle of three children born to the union of the late Hugh Nelson and Frances (Jolly) Quigg.
He was raised in the Kansas City area and was a 1971, graduate of Shawnee Mission High School. He furthered his education at Johnson County Community College, receiving his degree in Criminal Justice.
Steve served the residents of Johnson County faithfully for thirty-five years, beginning in 1978 as a Deputy Sheriff. He worked mainly in the Patrol Division and attained the rank of Lieutenant before retiring in 2011. In 2017, he became Chief Deputy and again served with dedication and professionalism for two more years.
Steve was a talented artist, loved his family, old cars and “shootin the bull” with his buddies at the local coffee shop. Steve was of the Methodist faith.
His parents and a nephew, Stacey Pratt, preceded him in death.
Steve is survived by his two siblings, Janice Pratt and husband, Jr. and Jimmy Quigg all of Anderson, Missouri; two nephews, Travis Pratt and Kendall Frazier of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Marcus Pratt and wife, Jessica, of Anderson; three great nieces, Ashton Smith and husband, Kyle, Alyssa Sherwood and husband, Tyler and Maggie Pratt; one great nephew, Lane Pratt; a great-great-nephew, Zaidyn Sherwood; countless friends; as well as his Brothers and Sisters in Blue.
Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Marilyn O’Brien officiating. His nephews, Travis and Marcus Pratt will be delivering the eulogy. Burial with Full Honors will follow at Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri.

Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Travis Pratt, Marcus Pratt, Lane Pratt, Kendall Frazier, Kyle Smith and Tyler Sherwood with Jr. Pratt, Jimmy Quigg and his Law Enforcement Brothers serving as honorary pallbearers.
