Gene Snell

Altie Eugene “Gene” Snell, age 94, formerly of Joplin, passed away on October 10, 2022, at home in Harrison, AR, following a long-fulfilled life.

Gene was born on March 18, 1928, in Joplin, the son of the late Altie Dell Snell and Anna (Rickard) Snell. He graduated Joplin High School in 1946 and he attended Joplin Junior College.

He served his country in the United States Navy and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He worked as a wire chief and was the Southwest District Manager for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Masonic Lodge#532.








He married Edith Meyer on September 8, 1975, and she has preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Anna Belle Wisdom.

Gene is survived by two sons, Doug Snell and wife Jeannie, Tulsa, OK, and Mark Snell and wife Betty, Everson, WA; two daughters, Sonja Snell, Harrison, AR, and Rayne Snell, Harrison, AR; a nephew, Ronnie Wisdom and wife Glenda, Tulsa, OK; fifteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.








The visitation will be 9:00 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at Mason-Woodard Chapel.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Jarel Burnside will officiate. Entombment will be in Ozark Memorial Park Mausoleum. 

The pallbearers will be Mark Snell, Hansen Doolittle, Ronald Wisdom, Nathan McDaniel, Easton Brock, and Skyler Davidson.
