Lynne Teaford

(From Parker Mortuary)

Cheryl Lynne Teaford, affectionately known as Lynne to her friends and family, graced this world with her gentle and generous spirit on July 21, 1949, in the heart of Joplin, Missouri to the late Charles and Arlene (Crane) Ashburn.

It is with a blend of sorrow for our loss and celebration of her life that we announce Lynne's peaceful passing on November 29, 2023, at her home surrounded by family. Lynne's journey through life was marked by her unwavering courage and the gentle touch she extended to all who knew her.

Lynne's story is one of enduring love and commitment. She shared a beautiful partnership with her husband, Scott Teaford, for 40 years, creating a tapestry of memories woven with care and mutual respect. Together, they embraced the joys of a blended family, cherishing moments with stepson Chad Teaford and his wife Susan of Louisville, KY, and stepdaughter Ann Teaford of Joplin. Lynne's role as a grandmother was one she treasured deeply, doting on her grandchildren Kate Rainey, Jack Wesley, Cora Wesley, Kyle Johnson, and Neal Johnson. Her warmth extended to her niece, Andrea Hilgenberg (Justin) of Joplin, and her nephew Jonathan Hays (Denise) of Fayetteville, AR, as well as to the many extended family members and friends who were drawn to her radiant spirit.

A proud graduate of Joplin High School, Lynne furthered her education at Missouri Southern State College (MSSC), earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Her passion for learning and growth was a testament to her belief in the power of education to transform lives. Lynne's professional journey was marked by 40 years of dedicated service as a clerk for Empire and Liberty Utilities, where she was not just an employee but a pillar of reliability and kindness.

Lynne lived her life like a dance, moving gracefully to the rhythm of her favorite tunes. Her love for dancing was infectious, and she could often be found twirling and stepping anywhere the music played. Her service to the community, alongside Scott, was a reflection of her generous heart. Volunteering at Crosslines, they extended hands of support to the less fortunate, embodying the very essence of compassion and empathy. Lynne's faith was a cornerstone of her existence, and she was a devoted member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, of Joplin, where she found strength and fellowship.

Other than her parents, Lynne is preceded in death by her only sibling, Tana Hays.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary with a visitation to follow. A committal of ashes will take place at a later date at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
