Kenneth R. Boyd, age 83, formerly of Carthage, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from COPD in St. Louis, Missouri. Kenneth was born on Saturday, October 21, 1933 in Carthage, MO, the son of the late Ralph W. and Beulah (nee Harshaw) Boyd. He was a 1951 graduate of Miller High School, Miller, Mo. and he attended Southwest Missouri State. Kenneth worked in the lumber industry for TapJac and Dyke Lumber until retiring in 1996.
Kenneth was married to Martha J. Garinger on January 23, 1954. They made their home in Carthage. She preceded him in death in 2008.
Kenneth was a member of First Baptist Church, Carthage, until moving to St. Louis in 2007, where he joined Fee Fee Baptist Church. During his retirement, he loved hunting, traveling, spending time with the family, and watching his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
Kenneth was preceded in death by not only his parents and wife, Martha, but also his one brother, Warren F. Boyd.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Louise and Randy Fullerton of St. Louis; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Fee Fee Baptist Church for Ukrainian Missions, 11330 St. Charles Rock Road, Bridgeton, MO 63044.
Visitation will be held at Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut St., Carthage on Monday, January 9 from 10 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 12 p.m. Burial follows at Park Cemetery, Carthage.
