Kenneth Eugene Hughey of Quapaw, OK passed away Monday, January 02, 2017 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was 81.
Kenneth was born February 1, 1935 in Carthage, MO. to Ertil Austin and Sylvia (Stockton) Hughey. He had lived in Quapaw area over 50 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a welder.
Kenneth was preceded in death by 2 sons Kenneth Eugene Hughey, Jr. and Ertil A. Hughey, a daughter Rachel Ann Hughey, his parents and 3 brothers William A., Virgil W. and Darrel Lee Hughey.
Survivors include 1 daughter Deena Rae Hughey of Miami, OK, 1 brother Richard H. Hughey of Quapaw, OK and 1 sister Naomi Harper of Carthage, MO, 6 grandchildren Richard Hughey of Holdenville, OK, Curtis Hargon of Quapaw, Ok, Raymond Sharp, Christina Sharp and Rachel Sharp all of Miami, OK and Crystal Hughey of Vinita, OK.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, January 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Quapaw Tribal Building, east of Quapaw, OK . Rev. Steve Daugherty will officiate. Pallbearers will be Roger Hines, Stan Underhill, Joe “Buckwheat” Morton, Jim “Beaver” Morton, Melvin “Moon” Edwards, Bill Adams. Honorary Pallbearer Gilbert “Bud” Kite. Kenneth will lie in state at the Quapaw Tribal Building and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Quapaw Tribal Building. Services have been placed in the care of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK.
