Donetta Lynn McMillen, age 68, Carthage, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden illness.
Donetta was born September 24, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Donald Harry Sherrill and Maudene Delores Calvine Sherrill and had lived in the Carthage area most of her life.
A homemaker, Donetta was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #2590. She enjoyed embroidery; crocheting and taking care of her animals. Her favorite past time was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Donetta was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Dennis Garrison, in July of 2015. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy and Tony Sherrill.
Survivors include her children, Paula Brown and her husband, Charlie, Owasso, Oklahoma, Michelle Hall, Avilla and Eric Hall, Joplin, Michael Sammons, Jr. and his wife, Mona, El Paso, Texas; a step son, Charles Tandy and his wife, Heidi, Carthage; adopted son, Chad Freeman and his wife, Tracy, Carthage; siblings, Leon Sherrill, Tammy Stark, Bonnie Moore, R.C. Moore, Jr.; beloved nephew, Joshua Sherrill; beloved uncle, Raymond McCrary; grandchildren, Brandon Hall, Adria Garrison, Justin Hall, Shelbi Brown, Joshua Bell, Codie Brown, Matthew Peveto, Meghan Sammons, Michael Sammons, McKenzie Sammons, Coy Freeman, Cage Freeman, Levi Tandy; other extended family members and many friends.
Donetta was especially proud of her fur babies, as they were a very important part of her life. Skipper, Smiling Jack, Hound Dog, MoMo and the miniature donkeys, Raymond and Dennis will miss her presence very much.
Services are planned for Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at North Point Church, Webb City. Rev. Tyler Kent will officiate. Interment will follow in Reeds Cemetery, Reeds, Missouri. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to North Point Church, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
