Stella Farmer

Stella Ruth Farmer, 82, of Joplin, MO, passed away peacefully at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center on March 3, 2016.

Stella was born on January 19,1934 in Stella, MO, to Jesse and Jewel Hooper. Stella grew up in McDonald County and was raised and worked on the farm until she married Walter Farmer on October 16, 1950, in Huntsville, Arkansas. They were married for 65 years. They moved to Noel, MO, in 1964 and opened G&W Foods along with Gene and Maxine Patton. She worked there on and off until 1997.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Farmer of Joplin, MO; children: Eddie and his wife, Debbie Farmer of Joplin, MO; Donna Price of Anderson, MO; Joyce and her husband, Jose Gonzalez of Southwest City, MO; Rick Farmer of Joplin, MO; Rhonda and her husband, Rev. Ron Mitchell of Parsons, KS; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Jewel Hooper; sister, Freida Robison; and grandson, Joel Farmer.

She was a faithful member of Apostolic Lighthouse Church of Parsons, KS. She was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Parker Mortuary with Ron Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Sparlin Cemetery in Racine, Missouri. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
