Jensen L. Smith, age 19, Carl Junction, passed away at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident.
Jensen was born August 13, 1996 in Joplin to Rick Smith and Stacey Demery Smith and had lived in the Carl Junction area all of his life.
He graduated from Carl Junction High School in 2015 and was currently a Freshman at Ozark Christian College where he was studying Theology. Jensen was a gifted athlete and played basketball and tennis. His love for Jesus was first and foremost in his life and was a faithful member of Christ's Church of Oronogo.
He is survived by his parents, Rick and Stacey Smith, Carl Junction; his sister, Kalli Smith, Lenexa, Kansas; grandparents, Pat and Richard Smith, Carl Junction, Jane Demery, Carl Junction; great grandparents, Mable Ruth Bird, Whitney, Texas, Martha June Smith, Flippin, Arkansas; aunts and uncles, Cindy and Steve Mesplay, Debbie and Kevin Morris, Cheryl and Bob Wentworth, Bryan Smith, David Demery, Jr.; and many other cousins and extended family members.
Jensen was preceded in death by a grandfather, David Demery, Sr. and an uncle, Greg Demery.
Services are planned for Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Ozark Christian College Multi Purpose Building. Randy Garris, Troy Nelson and Michael DeFazio will officiate. Interment will follow in Carl Junction Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben Coltharp, Aaron Nelson, Deion Clark, Junior Atkinson, Cody Vogt and Colton Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be the Ozark Christian College basketball team. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
