Robert Lee Mullani, Sr., age 79, Joplin, passed away at 9:34 a.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital after an extended illness.
Bob was born May 11, 1936 in Pittsburg, Kansas to the late Victor Mullani and Olga Martin Mullani and had lived in Joplin since 1999.
He worked as an age search supervisor for the Census Bureau for 36 years, retiring in 1991. Following his retirement, Bob moved to Kimberling City and worked part time at Mutton Hollow for 5 years.
Bob was a member of the Eagles Lodge; Joplin Elk's #501 and a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed reading; traveling and working in his yard.
He married Laura Gustin on April 22, 1983 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Robert L. Mullani, Jr., Pittsburg, Kansas; a daughter, Vicki Bakos and her husband, Todd, Joplin; three grandchildren, T.J. Mullani, Cabot, Arkansas, Braeden Bakos and Olivia Bakos, both of Joplin; and one great grandson, Declan Mullani, Cabot, Arkansas.
Bob was preceded in death by his eldest son, Craig Mullani.
Memorial services are planned for Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends following the services at the chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
