Glenn Strickland, 82, Stella, died March 16, 2016 at Freeman Hospital in Neosho, after failing health.
He was born August 2, 1933 in Stella, Missouri, the son of Orvellee and Susie (James) Strickland. Glenn lived in the Stella area all of his life, with the exception of 15 years in Wichita where he worked for Boeing. He then returned to Stella and lived the rest of his life on the family farm. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a foreman at Sunbeam Outdoor Products in Neosho until retirement. He loved to do woodworking and collected and restored John Deere tractors. He was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.
Glenn married June Umphers on May 31, 1958 and she preceded him in death on May 27, 2001. He is survived by three sons, Richard Strickland of Joplin, MO, Robert Strickland and wife, Natalie of Lebanon, MO and Jeffrey Strickland and wife, Teresa of Stella, MO; six grandchildren, Caleb Strickland, Nathan Strickland, Aaron Strickland, Abby Strickland, Christopher Strickland and Amanda Cross; two great grandchildren, Ivy Cross and Noah Cross; one brother, George Strickland of Conway, MO and one sister, Virginia Johnson of Joplin, MO. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents.
Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Granby, MO.
