Fern Willems was born December 28, 1918 in Sarcoxie, MO the daughter of Alex and Rosa Motley. Fern went to be with the Lord on March 15, 2016. She moved to Carthage in 1939 after graduating from Granby, MO. She later attended Business College in Carthage. She worked at Boggess Insurance Agency for several years until she married Dr. M.B. Willems from Neodesha, KS on July 1, 1961. He preceded her in death. After Fern returned to Carthage, she worked for Clayton E Smith for many years.
Survivors include John Willems (Sandra) of Muskogee, OK and Judy (Dr. Chriss) Roberts of Wagoner, OK. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers, and 1 sister.
Fern was a member of the Carthage Church of the Nazarene. She served on the Church Board for many years. She had a gift of hospitality and entertaining in her home. She was an active member of the B.A.S.I.C. Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 pm., Friday Mar. 18, 2016 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm., Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Nazarene Church. Rev. Dustin Ledford and Rev. Scott Dement will officiate. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery, Carthage.Memorial gifts are suggested to the Church of the Nazarene in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W Chestnut in Carthage, MO 64836.
