Robert “Larry” Hicks, 74 of Frontenac, KS died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday March 12, 2016 at the Girard Medical Center following a lengthy battle with ALS.
He was born November 15, 1941 in Martin, SD the son of Elmer E. and Helen Marie (Petrick) Hicks.
Larry married Donna Archer on July 29, 1972 in Emporia, KS; she survives at the home.
He worked for Teichgraver in Emporia for 15 years, moved to Pittsburg where he worked for Stockade from 1978 until 2006 retiring due to his diagnosis of ALS.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife Donna of the home; 3 daughters-Diana Gorges of Joplin, MO, Christina Hatfield of Pittsburg, Lisa Edwards of Cherryvale; 2 sisters Connie Murphy and husband Gary of Olpe, KS, Debbie Ottemann and husband Harlan of Kearney, NE; a brother Jim Hicks and wife Donna of South Dakota; 8 Grandchildren-Christopher Hatfield, Tonya Hebb, Melissa Tomassi, Alexis Rice, Justin Hatfield, Andrea Brown, Alesha Edwards and Anthony Edwards; 6 Great-
grandchildren-Courtney Hatfield, Trenton Hatfield, Aaliyah Hatfield, Austin Rice, Abby Rice and Brooklyn Tomassi. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Lori and daughter Kristi Hicks; a great-grandson Joshua Edwards, great-granddaughter Pearsynn Carland; andhis stepfather Anthony Zeman.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday March 18, 2016 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Eric Lang officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
