Georgia “Jeannie” Thompson, age 74, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 11:07 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 at her residence. Jeannie was born August 1, 1941 in Hickman Mills, Mo. She moved to Joplin in 1978 from Kansas City, Mo. Jeannie was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Joplin, First Ward. Jeannie married Thomas H. Thompson October 22, 1959 in Grandview, Mo. and he survives. Additional survivors include a daughter, Brenda Geeding and husband Tommy, Nevada, Mo., a son, James R. Thomson, Joplin, two brothers, George Worley and wife Linda, Olathe, Ks, and Gary Wayne Worley, Carthage, Mo., three sisters, Glayda O’Neal, Kansas City, Mo., Nancy Worley, Joplin, and Wanda Phillips and husband Tommy, Parkview, Mo., five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, John David Thompson.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 22nd and Indiana, with Bishop Russ Kemp and President Derek Tillman Officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Church. Memorial Contributions are requested to the American Cancer Society in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
