Louise Ellen “Lou” Cuendet, age 82, of Monett, MO, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 while at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO.
Lou was born on March 10, 1934 in Carthage, MO, daughter of the late Harry and Georgie (Scroggins) Hicks. She graduated from Sarcoxie High School. Lou enjoyed reading, quilting and knitting. For many years, Lou worked as church Secretary at the First Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Circle.
On May 29, 1958 in Monett, Lou married Denton Lee Cuendet. To this union, four children were born. Denton preceded Lou in death on July 8, 2000.
Lou is survived by her sons, Jeff Cuendet and wife Glenda, of Mt. Vernon, MO and Matt Cuendet, of Monett; her daughters, Martha Wells and husband Mark, of Springfield, MO and Lee Taylor and husband Jeff, of Butler, MO; five grandchildren, Nathan and Sarah Cuendet, Mallory, Kenton and Tevin Taylor; two sisters, Jane Carr, of Ballwin, MO and Shirl Dayringer and husband Jay, of Fayetteville, AR; one sister-in-law, Doris Hicks, of Joplin; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Bill Hicks.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cuendet will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Buchanan Funeral Home. Reverend Bill Vincent will officiate. Interment will follow at Waldensian Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been requested to the Waldensian Cemetery Fund in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
