Lorene Martin, 87, Goodman, died March 17, 2016 at her home.
She was born December 7, 1928 in Wellington, Texas, the daughter of John and Genevia (Sells) Byers. Verna lived most of her life in Texas and moved to Goodman from Amarillo in January, 2016. She had been the owner and operator of an upholstery business and loved to quilt, paint, decorate and design floral arrangements.
Verna married J. B. Martin on January 1, 1951 and he preceded her in death on July 18, 2004. She is survived by five children, Quinolyn Arceneaux of Houston,TX, Nanette Owens of Houston, TX, Gail Stokes of Sulphur Springs,TX, Tony Martin (Virginia)of Amarillo, TX and Sabrina Stubblefield of Goodman, MO; one brother, Ronnie Byers of Amarillo, TX; two sisters, Laverne Taylor of Dublin, TX and Pat McKnight of AZ; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Verna is preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Splitlog Baptist Church with Shan Cobb officiating. Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO.
