Steven Lee Franklin, age 67, Olathe, Kansas, passed away at 9:44 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2016 at KU Medical Center after a sudden illness.
Steven was born July 27, 1948 in Joplin to the late James Franklin, Jr. and Roberta Prialux Franklin.
He worked as a senior certified training supervisor for AT&T. He had held various positions within the company over 48 years, starting out as a linesman. Steven was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
He graduated from Webb City High School in 1966 and attended the former Missouri Southern State College in Joplin. He obtained a degree in Business and Finance from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1976-1977.
Steven married Paula Powers on June 23, 1967 in Joplin. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Franklin and Heather Franklin, both of Olathe, Kansas; one sister, LouAnn Green, Golden, Missouri and a step brother, Doug Franklin, Springdale, Arkansas.
In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Wayne Franklin.
Services are planned for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Joe McNally will officiate. Interment will follow at Saginaw Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Powers, Skyler Powers, Jason Lane, Tyler O'Banion, Gordon Green and Doug Franklin. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
