Jack Forrest Parrish, age 77, Carl Junction, Mo, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2016, following a long illness. He had spent the past six months at Communities of Wildwood Ranch, Joplin, Mo.
Jack and his wife, Margaret, lifetime Joplin residents, moved from their home on S. Florida to Carl Junction following the 2011 Tornado that destroyed their residence. At their Briarbrook home, across from the 13th green, Jack enjoyed watching the golfers from his front porch drinking coffee and visiting with the many friends that stopped by for his wit, companionship and keen sports insight.
He was born on January 26, 1939 in Nevada, Mo to the late Jack L. and Anna L. Hulen Parrish.
Jack attended Webb City grade school, He was a 1957 graduate of Stark High School in Orange Tx. and attended Sam Houston Community College. While living in Orange Texas Jack and his family attended the Presbyterian Church.
Jack and Margaret were married on September 23, 1962 in Miami, Ok. In addition to his wife, Margaret, he is survived by two sons, James Parrish of Webb City; David and wife, Susan Parrish of Tequesta, Fl, two daughters Elizabeth Davis of Lake Charles, La., Stephanie, husband Greg Fauvergue of Carl Junction and brother, Mike Parrish of Orange, Tx.
Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Angela Parrish Arkansas City, Ks; Lisa and husband Tim Winnett of Webb City, David Parrish and Thomas Parrish of Tequesta Fl. Jacob and wife, Abby, Fauvergue, Joseph Fauvergue and James Fauvergue, of Carl Junction; Great grandchildren include, Miriam and Nathanial Kissinger, Arkansas City, Ks; Peyton, Austin, Cameron, and Sarah Winnett of Webb City; Lillian and Theodore Fauvergue of Carl Junction. Jack also is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, extended family members and many close friends who will miss him immensely. Jack was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Jack was a former employee of Rocketdyne and Teledyne Company, Neosho, Mo; Sperry-Rand Vickers, Inc. of Joplin, Mo., and a car salesman for several years before retiring. Jack had a deep faith in God and had been a member of Forest Park Baptist Church for over thirty years. Jack was a member of AA with 48 years of sobriety and encouraged and counseled many throughout the years.
Jack was an avid sports enthusiast (all sports) and had aspirations of becoming a sports announcer. Being from Texas, he was a “Hook ‘em Horns” Texas Longhorn fan.
He was a lifetime GOP advocate and was a little bewildered with the slate of our choices this time around.
Jack could have a conversation with anyone and become friends in no time at all.
Pallbearers are Greg Fauvergue, Jacob Fauvergue, Joseph Fauvergue, James Fauvergue, David Parrish, Thomas Parrish, Brad McIntyre and Jim Lucas.
Visitation will be Monday, March 7, from 6:00-7:00 pm at Parker Mortuary. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 8, at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Pastor John Swadly and Chaplain Michael McCleary will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Our family would like to thank Mercy Hospital and staff and all the people who went out of their way to visit and spend time with Jack during his declining health. Our family also would like to acknowledge and extend our appreciation to the kind and excellent caregivers at Communities of Wildwood Ranch and roommate Ralph (Padre) Lucas and family.
