James C. Myers departed this world on March 5, 2016. He was born September 24, 1938 in Joplin to the late Warren and Dorothy Oltman Myers.
He married the love of his life, Janice Crowder Myers on October 15, 1960 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives at the home. Of that union, three children were born. Jama Nichols and husband, Karl, Treva Geiger, Warren Myers and wife, Cindy; five grandchildren, Kaleigh Myers-Geiger, Gage Nichols and wife, Jessica, Tadd Nichols, Samantha Myers, Madison Myers; one great grandchild due in August; sister, Betty Wirick and husband, Gene; two brothers, Jack Myers and wife, Carolyn, Gary Myers; and several nieces and nephews.
James served twenty years with the United States military. From 1955-1959, he served in the United States Air Force. From 1963 until his retirement in 1979, he served with the United States Navy. He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church for 35 years.
James attended Joplin schools and worked twenty years at Safeway Bakery. He was a wonderful husband, father and brother. He would do anything for you if you were in need. He loved fishing at Grand Lake with the family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Harold Myers.
Services are planned for Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church. Rev. Rodney Peters and Rev. William Brock Watson will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Warren Myers, Carl Nichols, Gage Nichols, Tadd Nichols, Steve Myers and Christopher Nichols. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
