Larry Wayne Porter, age 69 of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Freeman Hospital following an injury.
Larry was born on September 23, 1946 in Dallas, Tx., the son of Cecil and Mary Margaret (Patton) Porter. He has been a long-time area resident. Larry worked in electrical maintenance for Jasper Products for many years before retiring in 2014. He was a member of Frisco Church. Larry was an avid gun collector and loved to be outdoors, but most of all loved spending time with his family.
He married Genell Fenter on April 16, 1984 in Clarksville, Tx., she survives. Additional survivors include his father; Cecil Porter, two daughters; Andrea Pearson-Hurst of Bentonville, Ar., Cheri Moody of Galena, Ks., four sons; Lance Porter and wife Shelly of West Fork, Ar., Frank Robinson and wife Natalie of Joplin, Rickey Howard and wife Rosemary of Little Rock, Ar., Randy Howard and wife Cathy of Hope, Ar., two brothers; Roger Porter of Grove, Ok., David Porter of Webb City, Mo., one sister; Susan Jackson of Evanston, Wy., fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Margaret Porter, a brother, Warren Elmer Porter, and a grandson, Johnathon Smith.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Bob Cartwright, will officiate. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation following the service.
