Bobbie Mahaffey

Bobbie Eugene Mahaffey, age 89, of Olathe, Kansas, formerly of Neosho, Missouri, passed away at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Olathe, Kansas. 

He was born July 8, 1933, in Neosho, to the late Julius A. and Grace May (Arnold) Mahaffey. 








Bobbie attended school in Neosho and later joined the U.S. Navy. He served in the Korean War and earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer. In the military, he met and married his wife, Margaret Yukie, in Japan. Margaret survives him at the age of 101.

Honorably discharged, Bobbie and Yukie returned to the United States, where they resided in Washington and then Waukegan, Illinois. He attended college for business in Waukegan, Illinois, and he and Yukie started the White Hen Pantry convenience store there. They later returned to Neosho to be near family.

In addition to his wife, Margaret “Yukie,” he is survived by his two brothers, Jerry (Violet) Mahaffey of Neosho and John (Eddy) Mahaffey of Bay City, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.








His three sisters, Dorothy Childress, Frances Kelly, and Erma Clement; brothers Earl Mahaffey and Frank Mahaffey; and infant brother, Jack Mahaffey, preceded him in death.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Oakwood Cemetery in Neosho. Friends and family may visit the Clark Funeral Home from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the service.
