David Curl

David Nelson Curl, age 70, of Wentworth, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was born June 29, 1952, in Springfield, Missouri, the beloved son of Joe Francis and Edna Mae (Keatts) Curl.

David was a 1970 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. He was the owner and operator of Dave’s DX Station in Mt. Vernon and was a truck driver. David owned Tib-Bar Beagles and did competitive hunting. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Round Grove Baptist Church.








On December 1, 1984, he married Cheryl Ann Stewart, in Marionville, Missouri.

David is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cheryl; his mother, Edna Mae Spillman, of Mt. Vernon; three daughters, Staci Leach and her husband, Odis, of Halltown, Missouri, Kristi Sherrill of Joplin, Missouri and Rachel Brown of Phoenix, Arizona; one son, John Brown of Belle Chasse Louisiana; six grandchildren, Jade Curl, Isaiah Bolton, Forrest Leach, Preston Curl, Hunter Leach and Aleigha Sample; one great-granddaughter, Amiyah Curl; one great-grandson, Lane Ray Curl; one sister, Elaine Fordham and her husband, Dennis, of Talala, Oklahoma; four brothers, Stephen Curl and his wife, Sherry, Mark Curl and his wife, Janet, Danny Curl and his partner, Michelle Murray, all of Mt. Vernon and Darrell Curl and his wife, Karen, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his father, Joe; stepfather, Robert Spillman and stepbrother, Greg Spillman and his wife, Sheri.








A visitation, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the Rock Prairie Chapel, in Halltown, Missouri, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at the Rock Prairie Cemetery
