(From Lockwood Funeral Chapel)Dorothey Jeanne Lessman, of Golden City, Mo, left this earthly life and began her eternal life in Heaven on October 7, 2022, in the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility in Lockwood, Mo at the age of 99.
She was born on July 19, 1923, in South Coffeyville, Ks to Harold and Della (McCoy) Angleton. She was joined in marriage to Albert Lessman on July 23, 1950, they were joined in that marriage for 56 years until Albert’s death in December 2006.
Dorothey and Albert lived in the Coffeyville, Ks area until they moved their family to a farm outside of Lockwood, Mo in 1966. Dorothey was a Certified Accountant and spent many years in the bookkeeping and accounting field. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood, Mo since moving to Mo in 1966.
Lockwood was chosen by Dorothey and Albert not only for the rich soil for farming but also and perhaps, most importantly because Immanuel Lutheran Church also had an elementary school which they desired their children attend. Foremost in their minds was that their children grow in the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour through their daily academic learning centered and focused on the Holy Bible and its teachings.
Dorothey’s employment and work was varied all her life, between being a Professional Accountant, a Farmer’s Wife, which she excelled at by being Albert’s right hand in planting crops, caring for livestock, and running a dairy. Dorothey was also a Real Estate Broker for many years.

While she could, she was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Immanuel Lutheran. She served on many committees, boards, including serving on the Board of Directors at Good Shepherd in Lockwood. She was a Sunday School Teacher, a typist a volunteer on any project she was asked to assist with. Her greatest and most important job in life was to share the Word of God and plant as many seeds for the enlargement of God’s Christian Family as she could. She made that her priority in life.
God blessed Dorothey and Albert with three children, Debra (Mike), Judy (Rick) and Ted. Her children blessed them with 9 biological grandchildren, Misty, Jamei, Adam, Troy, Trey, Treven, Aaron, Audrey, and Eric, along with 5 additional step-grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
