(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)Neta Jean Fitzpatrick, 80, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly a longtime resident of Riverton, Kansas, departed this life on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, from complications of a hip fracture.
Neta entered this life on October 1, 1942, in Baxter Springs, Kansas, daughter of the late John Kirby and Jessie May (Grazier) Fitzpatrick. She was raised, attended school and resided the majority of her life in Riverton.
She worked for Eagle Picher in Joplin for several years as well as twenty years assisting her daughter in the operation of her event planning and design business, Legacy Events of Joplin.
She loved animals and was involved with SEK Humane Society for many years. She enjoyed traveling and camping and was a talented seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Don, Butch and Billy Joe Fitzpatrick; and two sisters, Rita Kay Fitzpatrick and Marjorie Gilmore.
Neta is survived by her three children, Cheryl Livingston and husband, Mike, Teresa Austin and Darrin Austin all of Joplin; a sister, Sue Smith; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2022, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Galena, Kansas with Tim Alsbaugh officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
