Sarah Pennington

Born March 14, 1928 to Frank Allen, Sr. and Geneva Holmes Allen. At age 13, she expressed her love for Jesus and joined Unity Baptist Church by baptism. She graduated from Lincoln School in 1946. Sarah continued her education at Pine Bluff College and Nursing School.

She received her LPN training at Franklin Technical School. On October 24, 1953 she married Myles Pennington and moved to Detroit/Mt. Clemens, Michigan. 







She was employed by Mt. Clemens General Hospital as a LPN for 20 plus years. When her mother became ill, she moved back to Joplin, retiring from Mt. Clemens General. Sarah worked at Oak Hill Hospital for several years before retiring permanently. She was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church, N.A.A.C.P., and volunteered for ARM (American Rehabilitation Ministries).

Sarah transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, October 6, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Allen, Jr.; sister in-law, Hazel Roberson Allen and a nephew, Gale Allen.

Survivors include a niece, Judith Allen Wilson (Melvin); great-niece, Marissa Wilson Parson and daughters, Jadyn and Jordyn, as well as great-nephew, Marcus Wilson.








A committal of ashes for both Myles and Sarah will take place on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Osborne Cemetery in Joplin.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
